John Belkot is a composer of concert and stage music. As a vocalist himself, John focuses primarily in contributing to new vocal and chamber music, but he also writes music and uses sound for non-traditional venues. His primary teachers include Albanian composer, Altin Volaj, and composer/percussionist/electro-acoustic specialist, Patrick Long, the later of whom he studied under while earning a Bachelors degree in music composition from Susquehanna University. In the fall John will be continuing his studies in composition at the Peabody Conservatory where he was recently accepted to the graduate program in the studio of Michael Hersch.

Over the past several years John has enjoyed continued commissions and performances of his work throughout the Northeast. John's works have been shared with audiences across Pennsylvania at Abington High School, Downingtown East High School, Loyalsock Township High School, and Susquehanna University. Recent performances throughout the Washington, D.C./Baltimore area include Georgetown University, the Lyceum, the Peabody Conservatory of Music, and An die Musik LIVE.

John is a member of ASCAP as a writer and publisher, the American Composers Forum, and currently serves as treasurer for the Baltimore Composers Forum. John lives in Baltimore, Maryland with his wife Adri. They have a dog.
